The right way to practice French Pronunciation

III. The actual vowel sounds

The first technique we learned was to listen to and copy the intonation, the speech music, of French words and phrases. The next step is to place your voice as far forward in the mouth as possible when you repeat.

Remember – vowel sounds are made by adopting specific articulation of the tongue and mouth in a completely open and unobstructed way. In this video we’ll show you a technique borrowed from classical singing that can be a stepping stone to better pronunciation.
