News in Slow French

Learn French through current events!

Since 2011, we have been producing a weekly intermediate French podcast with news stories, conversation and culture for French language learners and language lovers around the world.

On our program, we emphasize key aspects of language learning, including listening comprehension, rapid vocabulary expansion, French grammar, common idiomatic expressions, interactive pronunciation and grammar exercises. Each week, our hosts discuss current news and French culture at a slow pace that will help you understand.

On our website, you will find a comprehensive catalog of grammar and expressions lessons, from beginning to intermediate French. However, you don’t actually need an extensive vocabulary to start enjoying our program! The transcripts available on our website and mobile app offer optional, contextual translation. That means we don’t translate the entire text. Instead, we focus on key words and phrases that appear when you hover over them. This maintains the natural French sentence structure, and allows us to preserve an immersive listening experience.

What we offer is much more than multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank activities – we bring you real language you can understand, and use. Listen to engaging conversation and follow along with the interactive transcripts, and you’ll be surprised to discover that you know more French than you think!
